Leith MacArthur has written many short stories and poems, but his true passion is to be found, and expressed, in novels. He wrote his first book at the age of twelve; Gerry the Germ, a children’s book, explores the joys, as well as the hardships, of life, as seen through the eyes of one of God’s most elemental creatures. His first foray into the realm of the novel came in the form of a supernatural thriller, The Duplicating Man. Taking a brief respite from the novel, MacArthur penned the non-fiction guidebook, How To Buy an Excellent Used Car, A Companion Guide for Women. A few years later, following a life-altering spiritual experience, MacArthur began the William Snow series, beginning with Beneath The Bridge, and followed by The Stones of Mirabella, Losing Amber-Lee, and most recently, A Cause In The Death Of Harry Crow. These four novels chronicle the life of William Snow, a man whose life has been shattered by the death of his little sister, and who has committed his future to finding kidnapped children, as well as to bringing their abductors to justice.
As well as being a writer, Leith MacArthur has been, at one time or another, a personal life coach, clinical hypnotherapist, avid mountain hiker, and musician (former bass player and co-founder of the award-winning, Latin-jazz band Planet Groove). He has also done as much exploration into the experience of being human as have the myriad characters in his works of fiction. From barroom brawler, cross-country trucker, gravestone salesman and auto mechanic, to martial artist, offshore powerboat racer, short-order cook, and real estate entrepreneur, Leith has certainly traveled the long, winding road.
Leith summers with his dog and cats on his boat in Greenwich Bay, and winters at his home in the quiet of the Rhode Island woods. He is currently at work on, Confessions of a Chronic Pain Junkie. In Junkie, he “tells all” of his thirty-year addiction to pain and to painkillers, and his battle to climb out of the pit of pain and self-indulgence, in the hopes of finding peace and a reason to Be.
